Synthèse

This special issue of Growth and Change examines the intersections between sustainability, innovation, and urban and regional development. Drawing from the International Conference on Civil and Environmental Engineering (ICCEE 2025), it explores how emerging technologies and sustainable practices in urban planning, infrastructure, and construction influence the economic resilience and spatial development of urban and rural areas.

The issue welcomes interdisciplinary research investigating how sustainability and technological innovation relate to regional science, urban planning, economic development, and smart cities. Contributions should address both local and global impacts of sustainability initiatives and the role of policy in facilitating or obstructing progress in building environmentally resilient communities.
