This special issue seeks to move beyond traditional narratives that portray women entrepreneurs primarily as victims of crisis. Instead, it invites research that recognizes women as active agents driving change across multiple societal levels. The call welcomes investigations of both positive and negative dimensions of entrepreneurship during and around crises, whether examining immediate crisis periods or their longer-term effects.
The collection aims to deepen understanding of how gender, entrepreneurship, and crisis intersect, with particular interest in how women entrepreneurs shape opportunities, identities, and societal outcomes. Topics range from peacebuilding and regeneration after crises to power dynamics, ecosystem development, and feminist theoretical approaches to entrepreneurship in crisis contexts.
