The evening and night-time visitor economy is increasingly central to urban tourism destinations worldwide, contributing to economic growth, social interaction, and cultural identity. However, rapid expansion of nightlife activities creates significant challenges including noise complaints, safety concerns, environmental impacts, and conflicts with local residents. This special issue seeks to bridge a fragmented academic literature by bringing together empirical research, theoretical frameworks, and policy insights on sustainable nightlife tourism in urban settings. It invites scholars to critically examine how cities can manage the evening and night-time visitor economy while balancing economic benefits with social responsibility, cultural preservation, environmental stewardship, and equitable access for all community members.
