This special issue addresses the critical gap between technology adoption and actual value realization, focusing on how organizations and societies integrate, adapt, and leverage ICTs and AI beyond their initial implementation. While existing research emphasizes adoption decisions, there remains limited understanding of post-adoption dynamics, continued use, and the translation of technological investments into tangible organizational and societal benefits.
The issue welcomes research exploring post-adoption phenomena across individual, organizational, and societal levels, including technology assimilation, value creation, and transformation. It also addresses significant risks and ethical concerns arising from ICT and AI deployment, such as algorithmic bias, privacy threats, digital inequality, and unintended consequences that require scholarly attention.
