Synthèse
This special issue seeks to develop integrated approaches combining digital innovation with sustainability in construction. Rather than examining these areas separately, it aims to establish comprehensive frameworks that connect digital technologies with measurable sustainability outcomes, including enhanced benchmarking methods, governance structures, and implementation strategies.
The issue addresses gaps in current research by exploring how emerging technologies like BIM, digital twins, and AI can support sustainability goals. It examines the organisational changes, leadership requirements, and regulatory mechanisms necessary for successful digital-sustainability transitions in construction.
Through collaboration among researchers, industry professionals, and policymakers, the special issue aims to establish clear frameworks and performance-assessment methodologies that demonstrate how digital innovations contribute to sustainability targets across the construction sector and support several UN Sustainable Development Goals.
