This special issue examines how consumption of cultural and creative products is evolving in contemporary "phygital" contexts where digital and physical experiences merge. The call seeks papers addressing contemporary theories of consumer behaviour, novel methodologies, and factors spanning economic, psychological, social, and technological dimensions that shape how people engage with cultural offerings.
The issue aims to map current consumption trends at individual and societal levels, identify best practices, and address gaps in academic understanding of how cultural industries are adapting to rapid societal transformation. It focuses on ten cultural domains including heritage, archives, libraries, publishing, visual arts, performing arts, audiovisual media, architecture, advertising, and crafts.
The special issue recognizes that cultural and creative industries are responding to challenges through innovation in digital environments, extended reality technologies, and sustainable practices. Papers should explore how these emerging practices contribute to individual wellbeing and broader social benefits such as education, intercultural dialogue, and social cohesion.
