Facilities Management is being repositioned as a strategic discipline to address the built environment's challenges stemming from climate change, technological disruption, and resource scarcity. This special issue seeks scholarly contributions exploring how FM can enable transitions toward resilient, efficient, and adaptable infrastructure while integrating circularity, digital tools, and future-oriented management practices.

The call invites research on lifecycle value optimization, digital innovations like BIM and digital twins, climate resilience strategies, sustainable operations, energy efficiency, safety management, and occupant wellbeing. Contributions may encompass empirical research, conceptual studies, or industry case analyses examining how FM professionals can translate technological advances and circular principles into practical, scalable solutions.

The special issue, developed alongside the Facilities Management Futures 2026 Conference, aims to advance both theoretical understanding and applied practice while contributing to broader goals including sustainable communities, responsible production, climate action, and improved occupant wellbeing.
