Despite widespread digitalization efforts in the built environment sector, practitioners remain uncertain about the value of digital investments, viewing them as risky ventures with unclear returns and ambiguous benefits. This special issue seeks to address the insufficient understanding of how digital transformation creates value across the sector by establishing frameworks and gathering evidence on the impact of digital technologies.
The issue welcomes contributions from multiple disciplines examining how value is understood, measured, and realized through digital adoption. Contributions may assess value quantitatively through efficiency metrics and financial indicators, or qualitatively through improvements in work practices, sustainability, and service quality. The editors invite case studies, comparative analyses, methodological frameworks, and empirical evaluations offering both qualitative and quantitative perspectives on digital technologies in the built environment.
