This special issue in the Journal of Business Venturing examines how new ventures undergo professionalization and the implications of this organizational development. The call seeks research exploring the processes through which entrepreneurial firms adopt more formal structures, systems, and practices, as well as the strategic tradeoffs involved in professionalization efforts and their effects on organizational performance.
