This special issue examines the ethical foundations of entrepreneurship, positioning ethics as central to entrepreneurial practice rather than a constraint on it. The issue brings together entrepreneurship studies and philosophical ethics to explore how venture creation, opportunity recognition, and stakeholder engagement involve fundamental questions about responsibility, justice, and human flourishing. It investigates the tension between entrepreneurship's capacity for creativity and disruption and concerns about commodification and self-optimization.

The special issue welcomes diverse methodological and disciplinary perspectives examining how philosophical traditions such as virtue ethics, phenomenology, pragmatism, and deontology illuminate entrepreneurial practice. It particularly emphasizes entrepreneurial decision-making under uncertainty and fluidity, where ethical judgment must balance competing stakeholder interests without reliance on established protocols. The issue seeks papers exploring how entrepreneurship and ethics can deepen each other's understanding through examining contingency, creativity, authenticity, care, and emerging futures.
