This special issue examines how entrepreneurs develop internal resources and psychological strengths that enable them to succeed when external support systems are unavailable or depleted. The collection challenges the traditional view of crises as isolated events, recognizing instead that modern entrepreneurs frequently operate under continuous adversity and must rely on their own innovation, adaptability, and resilience to thrive.

The special issue invites research exploring the endogenous foundations of entrepreneurial success—the internal capabilities, mechanisms, and strengths that allow entrepreneurs to survive and flourish despite lacking adequate ecosystem support. The collection seeks bold, groundbreaking research that fundamentally advances understanding of how entrepreneurs draw upon internal resources to achieve success under sustained challenging conditions.
