As artificial intelligence increasingly shapes both offensive and defensive cybersecurity, this special issue emphasizes the continuing importance of human judgment and involvement in security systems. The call recognizes that while AI tools are becoming essential for threat detection and response, humans remain fundamental to effective security practice. The special issue seeks research that maintains focus on how humans can effectively collaborate with AI-based systems rather than being replaced by them.

The special issue invites behavioral and design science research exploring how to balance AI advancement with meaningful human participation in security. Beyond traditional topics like security compliance and training, the call particularly welcomes studies on neurosecurity approaches, AI-enabled behavioral interventions, human-AI collaboration in security decisions, and the security implications of generative AI. The work should emphasize practical applications, such as improving security awareness or detecting threats through behavioral analysis, rather than purely technical solutions.
