Generative AI is rapidly transforming managerial work, shifting managers' focus from producing work to directing, verifying, and evaluating AI-generated outputs. This technological shift raises fundamental questions about what capabilities managers need to develop and how management development programmes should evolve to prepare them for this new landscape.

This special issue seeks research on how to develop managers for generative-AI-reshaped work, welcoming theoretical, empirical, and conceptual contributions from diverse methodological approaches and disciplines. The collection prioritizes work that is both academically rigorous and practically applicable, offering insights that organizations can implement in their management development initiatives.
